A Few Tips
In Manhattan, parking is outrageous. The odd numbered avenues flow southward. The odd numbered streets flow westward. Park Ave is the only bi-directional avenue. For other boroughs, use a map.
Don't take the subway unless you know the lines, and their stops. The buses are ok, but going less than five or so blocks, walk it (always ask for a bus transfer). Less than twenty blocks, cab it. Otherwise, car service it.
The "outer boroughs" are ok to drive, but still bad. The BQE is our "passage into adulthood." Good luck! Take a cab from the airports. Bring only what you need for your stay, in as few bags as possible. Hotels are overpriced and only the gaudy ones are possibly clean. Reserve wayyy ahead.
Walking around town is tedious and not that enjoyable, in any weather, plus, you stand out, except in Times Square, of course. Everyone there is lookin up! :)
Research what you want to do before arriving, i.e., pick some restaurants, shows, museums, attractions, etc. Reserve whenever possible.
BTW, did you notify next-of-kin where you're headed? We're kidding, but the pandemic has changed, a lot.
